Guitar Music

The guitar is a primary instrument used in many different types of music like reggae, rock, jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, folk, country and flamenco to name a few. Pop music can also be played on the guitar incorporating hip hop, R&B, rock and other styles. This type of music often has a catchy melody and enjoyed by large audience.

Reggae is a form of music which started in the late 1960s in Jamaica. It refers to many types of Jamaican dance music characterised by calypso music , rhythm and blues, jazz and the mento. Blues is a type of music that has roots in African music mixed with European American folk music and originally started in African-American communities of the United States at the end of the 19th century.This style of music has elements of work songs, spirituals, shouts, chants, field hollers as well as simple narrative ballads which are rhymed. During the early period of Blues, the narrative  was often about troubles faced by the African American society at that time.

Flamenco music, often played on the guitar involves dance and singing, punctuated by rhythmic hand claps. It originated from the province of Andalusia in Spain and guitarists who play this style of music use different strumming techniques and postures compared to those of typical classical guitarists. Bluegrass music is a mixture of traditional music and old-time music  found in the Appalachian region of the United States of America. This mixture of traditional music has it’s roots in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, it was later influenced by jazz from the African-Americans. Country music is a combination of ballads and dance tunes in the 1920s from the Southern United States of America. Nowadays, it has gone on to become a type of popular music especially in the United States.
